sudonim1 ea766db4ce I guess I should've tried this from the beginning. Actually, I did, but it wasn't quite the same code and rama benchmarked it instead of me. Other optimisations are irrelevant, speed is now within measuring error of r2634, I feel like an idiot.

sudonim1 a564d4bbae Runaway voices should be faster with this. My previous ideas for optimising this were based on the principles that there's no way a game could rely on this feature other than requiring interrupts to fire when the muted voice hits the interrupt address. Well... Fatal Frame 2 proved me wrong. SPU2 interrupts aren't even enabled. I have no idea what it's doing.
Rougher granularity than this probably doesn't break anything, this is the finest that should have observable effects.

Not running voices when they're in a special sentinel block may also help games... but not Fatal Frame 2. It resets the loop register constantly. I really have no idea what it's playing at and it's driving me crazy.

ramapcsx2 ef8fe6639e GSdx:
- Found out that the blur detection filter was busted for some time now.
It worked by chance, due to the pixel crop hack.
Disabled that hack now and made PCSX2's GS frame handle that functionality instead.
This is a somewhat nicer method, although users of 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios might get flickering pixels on the borders again.
I'll see if I can think of something for those cases, should there be demand for it.

gigaherz c1cd29a534 Started implementing configuration support for PortAudio. Since PortAudio doesn't have any kind of "Unique ID" for the listed devices, I have to rely on the "host api" name and the descriptive name of the device, but it doesn't seem to be 100% reliable. In case the device name can't be found, it will try to use the default device for the specified API. If no api is specified, then it will fall back to using whatever default device PortAudio provides.

DevNotes: The main change here was to turn WndProcEater into a class and create multiple instances of it, so that it could manage the WndProcs for multiple windows concurrently. The "frame" (top-level window) gets a WndProc that sets title and handles screensaver/alt-enter hacks. The "viewport" (provided by PCSX2) gets the usual keyboard input handler WndProc. Config buttons also have their own WndProc that avoid fuzzy logic conflicts with the other two.

Before working on the texture cache GetDisplayRect(),GetFrameRect() and GetDeviceSize() really need fixing. It's useless to try and find surfaces when not knowing the real size of things.

* Fixed some bugs from the prev rev that ended up disabling all reverb completely.
 * Expanded reverb buffers to x4, as per Neill Corlett's recommendation; this should give reverb a lot more "body"
 * Implemented what I suspect is correct behavior for EEA register handling. When set to zero, effects are disabled. This fixes nasty reverb and feedback loops in Digital Devil Saga.
 * Reverb down/up mix buffers are now processed even when effects disabled; fixes the reverb being cut off prematurely during the BIOS splash screen.
 * Fixed some silly clamping bugs (should fix distortion problems in some titles)

* Switched the SysCoreThread to a static (fully persistent) thread.
 * Added some listeners for when the CoreThread status changes
 * fixed some slowness in savestates, and the emu will now stall until savestates complete, if you try to exit too quick (avoids savestate corruption)

Jake.Stine ed444cb876 More MSVC/Win32 buildsystem fixes: Made is so you can now optionally unload all 3rdparty libs (after building at least once!) and still build the rest of PCSX2 and plugins without linker errors. This is useful for reducing the memory overhead of working in the MSVC IDE, and reduces the size of the .ncb file and the bugs that come with it.

Jake.Stine b71b837efa Linux: Added more correct __asm__ qualifiers and conditions; including __volatile__ on a lot of asm code (it should really be the default behavior and non-vlatile the specifier, but whatever >_<), and added register clobber specifiers. mattmenke fc623d0719 LilyPad: Reverted keyboard messages back to windows messaging.
New method of ensuring thread safety. Device update code should always run in GS thread, even if the emulator really doesn't want to let me (Basically ancient versions of Pcsx2...Or any 3rd party emulators with their own version of MTGS). Updates on PADpoll, PADkeyEvent, or PADupdate, if one is called in the right thread. Updates in thread's WndProc otherwise. Overkill, perhaps, but I prefer to keep things compatible.
Removed "Update in GS thread" option.
Windows Messaging/Raw Input keyboard event queuing should work a little better.

 * Implemented GSopen2(), which is used by wx-pcsx2 to bind the GS output to a window handle of pcsx2's choosing.
 * Retained full backwards compat with the current legacy gui. :)

Jake.Stine e4c0dfb6d3 GSopen2: Fixed GSdx so that it complies with the implied intent of the PS2E plugin API, where GSopen and GSclose retain the current GS emulation state. This required a couple significant changes:
* Removed GSTextureFX classes
 * Built shaders right into GSState classes, using GSStateDX as an interface, so that all shader caches get auto-destroyed along with GSState.

In addition to being a bit of a code cleanup, it should be a bit more efficient too since all of the extra dereferences to GSState from GSTextureFX have been removed. :)

Jake.Stine c9c924fe35 Yay, craploads of fixups for the new gui:
* Lots of crashfixes and threading rules compliance (like using wxYield instead of ProcessPendingEvents)
 * Killed off some memory corruption
 * Better error handling and reporting
 * Much speedier suspend/resume during emulation
 * Revamped entire savestate system to use a RIFF-style file format (untested, will work on it soon)

mattmenke 046e10b1a9 LilyPad: Force feedback threading fix. DualShock 3s initalize much more nicely.
Still have issues with DS3 rumble - looks like only one motor can be enabled per communication (Otherwise, always lose connection to the device and have to re-enable it), and enabling one kills the other. Not sure what to do about this, currently just flip between the two.

mattmenke c1f8444fe1 LilyPad: DS3 no longer disconnects when vibrating. Partial workaround for a DirectInput threading issue when vibration is triggered at the same time devices are being added/removed - probably do something better at some point. Some other DS3 related changes - change names of some controls, increased sensitivity of boolean buttons values to more closely match the DS3 as well. Poorly calibrated analog axes bound to the d-pad (Or buttons) may cause issues.

Requires libusb installed and DS3 set up as per instructions at http://forums.pcsx2.net/thread-7582.html. Jake.Stine b638f52809 Re-ordered the MSVC folder structure to split PCSX2 into two definitive sections: [App]Host and [Emu]Core (the bracketed names indicate the "long" versions which are generally used in the code to differentiate the functions and classes). If the tentative layout is good then I'll sort the files on SVN to match that layout.
(note: Patch.cpp/Patch.h is still the odd child out in this commit, as it's destiny is to become a plugin)

- Automatic texture filtering should be ok now, occasionally point filtering was used. Tested it on the ps2 and figured with no mip levels LoD and minification settings are just ignored altogether.
- Also run a few tests on the gather instruction with the reference rasterizer and found a fatal flaw with it. It returns the four samples for bilinear sampling (in a funny order, which isn't documented of course, x = bl, y = br, z = tr, w = tl), but there is no way to guess which four were selected exactly. Due to some hidden rounding error it might grab different texels than I would when calculating the position of the upper-left texel, of which the fractional part is be used for the interpolation. When the texel positions do not match it leaves annoying discontinuity errors. Oh well...

Jake.Stine bc1b84295f Improvements to the new installer project:
* installer automatically includes all three SSE build targets for GSdx (each built target needs to be built manually prior to building the installer).
 * Fixed some typos and abbreviated install paths from "PCSX2 Team/PCSX2" to just "PCSX2".
 * Added an "SSEtype" user define to GSdx's property sheets, which is used to generate the SSE postfix on the DLLs automatically. (ie, GSdx-SSE2.dll, etc).

Jake.Stine b974b815ff Major Build System changes:
* Changed w32pthreads library into a DLL so that it can be used from plugins correctly. (NOTE: you will need to make sure to build and copy w32pthreads.dll into your pcsx2 folder).
 * Switched pcsx2 from static CRT to shared CRT linking (needed to ensure correct exception handling behavior in multithreaded DLL environments).
 * Switched all standard plugins in the Suite to the shared CRT, to match pcsx2's new style. :)
 * Renamed _DEBUG (depreciated) to PCSX2_DEBUG (excluding Gabest projects since the ATL still uses it).
 * Added intrin.h to Pcsx2Defs.h (so that it is included universally), and added intrin_x86.h for GCC compatibility.

Notes:
 * Current plugin version compatibility status should be unaffected. The new shared-CRT plugins work fine with older versions of Pcsx2, and the older plugins should work fine with the new shared-CRT version of pcsx2; so long as the necessary CRT DLLs are available on the user's system.
 * All future packagings of pcsx2 will include w32pthreads.dll and the Common Runtimes (CRTs).
 * Existing users who do not have MSVC installed can obtain the CRTs by downloading the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (anyone with msvc installed should already have all they need).

gabest11 3e12966919 GSdx: Even more alpha test voodoo magic, it must be nailed now!
And there is even an explanation.

The tfx functions calculate At * Af >> 7, which means modulating by 0x80 should return At as the result.

With the evil floating point pixel shader however 0x80 translates to 128/255 (0.502), not exactly 0.5, modulation as At' * Af' * 2 (' means 0 - 1.0 range) is not the same as with integers.

At' = Af' = 0.502
At' * Af' * 2 = 0.504

If the alpha test happens to be "not equal to 0x80", then abs(0.504 - 128/255) < 0.5/255 will just miss.

Solution is to re-scale those values to the integer range, do the calculations, and then back to float again, but in the end it just simplifies down to At' * Af' * 255/128, doh...

At * Af >> 7 => ((At' * 255) * (Af' * 255) / 128) / 255 => At' * Af' * 255/128

At' = Af' = 0.502
0.502 * 0.502 * 255/128 = 0.502 (w00t!)

Still need to hook it up to the PCSX2 GUI and figure out how to say the extra memcard slots are all empty.

mattmenke 1df68eca73 LilyPad: PADfreeze() now saves state of current poll, just in case it hasn't been completed. In practice, state never seems to be saved in the middle of a poll, but best to be safe.
Note that this "breaks" old LilyPad savestates, but that just means you'll need to wait for your pad to be initialized before loading older states for picky games, like you do when using states saved with other pad plugins.

Attempt to fix keyboard input sometimes not working until window is unfocused/refocused. Happened to me once (And only once), when I was experimenting with disabling read input in GS thread. There are a number of potential causes of this, and I've added workarounds for several of them.
Slightly updated code to determine when to update pad state - added both a timer, so read state less when fast forwarding, and Multitap support (to that particular chunk of code).

Hacked in a way to make GSdx change the renderer on the fly.
When you press F11 it will switch to DX9 sowftware rendering.
Press it again to get back to the setting you were using before.

Notes:
-For this change I had to modify a few lines in GSdx. If that's not acceptable
we can do more drastic measures and modify the gsdx.ini :p
-F11 is currently also used for doing gsstates in debug modes, it will likely be changed.
-When in dx10 hardware + fullscreen mode, pressing this key will crash GSdx. Sorry.

Jake.Stine 7ffd3d3aea Restructured the build system from the ground up. 3rdparty libs have been moved back into a /3rdparty folder, and are compiled as libraries. Most relevant plugins are part of the pcsx2_suite_2008.sln. Revision tagging of filenames is still there, but is now disabled by default. Pathnames with spaces shouldn't break the buildscripts anymore. Removed tons and tons of files in an effort to simplify the repository and build system management. So if a solution file you're used to using is missing, it's missing for a good reason (means the project can be built either from the Suite solution, or by double-clicking the project file from explorer, from which MSVC creates a new solution for you).

Jake.Stine 4bd685485d New Speed Hack! And a good one! This is an idea I had a while back, as implemented by Pseudonym, and is intended as an eventual replacement for all EE speed hacks (x2, x3, etc). Expect huge speedups in most games way beyond even X3, and it shouldn't break FMVs or cause graphical artifacts either like the old hacks do.
Memorycard Fixups:
 * Replaced the old disfunctional memcard manager with a neat and practical one, with options!
 * Improved memcard hotswapping support.
 * Added memcard CRC checks to savestates, so that memory cards are only ejected when needed (should fix Guitar Hero problems from Issue 32)

Jake.Stine 84099c097f Added GSdx to the pcsx2_suite_2008.sln. It defaults to SSE2, you'll have to manually configure the build targets to use SSSE3 or SSE4 (hopefully we'll find a better solution to that in the near future).
Upgraded GSdx's use of svnrev to match other plugins in the pcsx2 repository; so that it no longer requires TortoiseSVN, and will also compile correctly from folders with spaces (ala '/program files/username/my documents/projects').

Removed the /3rdparty and /common folders since they aren't used anymore, and it was potentially confusing or misleading to leave them in since they were out-of-date (they were once referenced by svn:externals, and we opted out of using those here due to slowness).

SPU2-X: Fixed a minor overflow in the reverb that would cause infrequent crackles in a select few games.

Jake.Stine 22bacc999e Modified the build system so that both the original and new "revisioned" copies of EXE/DLL files are copied into the target build folder. Example: When compiling Release, pcsx2.exe will always reflect the most recent successful compilation.
Fixed COP0's recompiled branch instructions (BC0F, BC0T, etc) -- the conditional was not implemented correctly (thanks to Refraction for spotting that one).

Used a better method of clearing the errorlevel during the Pre/Post Build steps. Should be a little less error-prone (pun?)
