donkopunchstania 9b16c36014 Adding software rendering plugin. This is aimed at accurate emulation, not fast. Its more like a debugging tool than actually useful.

Rodolfo Osvaldo Bogado 56224bd966 this is EXPERIMENTAL. Implemented 3 different paths to use depth textures and allow peeking.
they are extremely hard/driver Dependant so your test is needed.
there plugin will automatically select the path thats work for your hard, need that everyone post the messages that the video init throw (yes all will hate me for the messages) but is the only way to see what is the optimal path. in the next commit will clean the unused paths.
i'm afraid thath the second path is Vista dependant (you need to include vista sdk to make it work).
the third path use lockable depth buffer so there is no change in that. 
now peek color is fully working and is fast because the you never lock the the real color texture only the offscreen surface.
please if someone knows a game that use peek color please test it.
also fixed blending so SMS underwater must be fixed.
this work with d3d teach me that i love opengl :)

Rodolfo Osvaldo Bogado 41cc224ca1 added a more "correct" Color peeking, you can't lock the drawing surface so the correct way is to use and offscreen surface and use StretchRect to copy the data, then lock the offscreen surface and read the data. this is experimental so please test it a lot. the bad news is you can do this only for the color surface, the z-fuffer remain slow to read and only from lockable formats. the good news are the same code should work for mltisampled surfaced.

Sonicadvance1 0146f3f58f More OpenCL work, got XFB converting which needs more optimization. I haven't checked for FPS changes. My desktop isn't the best to test on anyway (Phenom 1, 32 stream processors). The package check doesn't work for me, so I just checked true if you compile with opencl=true. Requires a bit of cleanup still

Shawn Hoffman 4c22bea4d4 Add ability to use Reset (reset button interrupt, still figuring out the other reset modes)
Add support for button combos that are built-in to controllers:
y+x+start for three seconds updates the origin
b+x+start for three seconds resets
Changed CPeripheralInterface to a namespace and renamed to ProcessorInterface

implemented buffer format fall back to allow hardware that don't support lockable formats to run the games with Z peeking disabled, applied as well the patch suggested in issue 1494 please give heavy test to this commit

Rodolfo Osvaldo Bogado 9d67518f71 I hope you all like this. Changes:
Opengl:
Reorder the rendering path to make it more generic, and a little bit faster i think.
Reduce the index Buffer size to make it more Friendly to older video hardware.
get rid of the remaining annoying sps (I hope).
D3D:
Implement the same path as opengl to make the plugins more similar and maintainable.
Fixed Peek_Z this means, Pushing stars in SMG Now Works.
Please give heavy testing to this changes and compare the performance with the old path.

XTra.KrazzY 48ed2ae852 Best of both worlds (or hacks...). Music continues to play, no sound breakage in Pikmin2/ZTP. Wind Waker still echoes weirdly in ZWW though.

Sonicadvance1 804b9e99f8 Add CoreAudio Backend, still needs a bit of work. Will cleanup AudioCommon.cpp, and finish off CoreAudioStream.cpp if I ever get running games working in Snow Leopard. Interpreter seems to run in to a spinlock, dunno why yet, and Jit just crashes out. Core problems is probably something I won't be able to fix

rice1964 194d44d08e D3D, back off the buffer flipping change by r4303. It works for certain games (Zack & wiki, Rayman3, etc), but seems to break other games (Metroid prime 1 complete black) and features (frame skipping).

rice1964 81e7ce9ad2 D3D: get rid of flickering in various games by changing way and time to flip backbuffer to frontbuffer. Also added some debugging messages. ZTP intro seems to be additionally 10%+ faster now, maybe only for me in windows mode.

hrydgard 7a8f6bdd6d D3D various: "Safe texture cache" option, texture replace instead of destroy/create when possible, a commented out "optimization" that didn't speed things up (use DrawPrimitive instead of DrawIndexedPrimitive when possible), reduce code duplication in Flush(), don't periodically clean out the shader caches since it's not really beneficial - shaders are cheap to keep. some code cleanup.

Sonicadvance1 ced92d8544 Fix compiling in Snow Leopard, the Update stuff in the Video plugin shouldn't be in the GUI since it breaks nowx builds, wasn't sure where to put it, but Render.cpp seemed like the best place. Fixed wiiuse.c, and the SConscripts needed updating for Snow Leopard. Building 32bit in Snow Leopard is apparently broken. and Running 64bit in Snow Leopard seems to fail. Haven't tracked this down yet

hrydgard e0baa817e4 D3D: Switch color render target to a texture. Should not have any visible effects - if this causes slowdown compared to the previous revision right before this one, let me know in the comments. This is a prerequisite to do postprocessing, and also things like copy-efb-to-ram.

hrydgard 512053fa5e Kill some horribly ugly hackery :( It's just not right to pass entire IniFile objects across DLLs. Only POD (plain-old-data, like int, float, char, char[] etc) are safe to pass across DLL boundaries.

hrydgard 700f2ff694 Lots of code and warning cleanup. OGL/D3D: Moved to a shared config class in VideoCommon. This lets VideoCommon code read the config without ugly hacks. Fixed various config race conditions by keeping a copy (g_ActiveConfig) of the g_Config struct which is updated once per frame.

hrydgard 52ea8a0fd1 D3D supports setting multiple shader constants at once, so let's add support for that. Very tiny speedup. Also remove the annoying black window in the background when configuring D3D before starting a game. Also make sure to write all values when converting normals - might help the cpu's write gather cache.

hrydgard 987a6185e6 Linux: Alsa backend for the audio plugins. Didn't succeed in reducing latency though, but hopefully will work better than libao - shouldn't hang weirdly at underruns, I hope, like libao does.

rice1964 aef1f943f3 D3D viewport fix to get rid of the black borders. Seems to work fine in Window mode, not working yet for full screen mode.

rice1964 c30ed92e75 Add some command line options to directly specify plugins. You can use "dolphin /V Plugins/Plugin_Video???.dll" in the command line to start Dolphin with the ??? plugin. This can be done also for other plugins. There are a couple of reasons to do so. For example, Dolphin compiled in DEBUG would often crash if loaded with non-DEBUG plugins. Therefore, you may want use to DEBUG plugins when running the DEBUG dolphin by giving all the command switches.
Also add some code to show the version of the plugin in the plugin configuration window title, so we can see clearly which version of the plugin we are using.

hrydgard 0d1662e020 GL: Delete "exact-2x" feature. The way it's currently implemented it requires us to allocate double-sized buffers, which really hurt some GFX cards. So, it's gone for now but may return later in some form.

rice1964 47a16da49a Some shader manager changes, to avoid a shader be re-generated / re-compiled again, and again, if it is failed at the first time. There used to be cases that a vertex shader was failed, and Dolphin tried to generate/compile it forever, and caused the entire game slow down. It maybe not the case anymore after recent changes.

rice1964 d616f132d7 Debugger for DX9 plugin.
Debugger panel is displayed only if Dolphin is started with /d option.
Dump features are not implemented.
Pause/Resume buttons works, only if the plugin is built in DEBUG or DEBUGFAST configuration, not in RELEASE. These features are really only for devs, not for regular gamers.

You will be able to pause frame by frame, or by n frames, or by n primitive flushes. Other pausing options are not implemented yet.

When other pausing and dumping features are implemented, debugging will be much easier.

I have changed the DX9 project setting to use unicode character set in order to use wxWidge tools. If this causes Dolphin building problems for you, check your project setting.txt

rice1964 0dcf03b898 This should fix the per-vertex PositionMatrix, the famous "Posmtx" problem, for DX9. My DX9 plugin still crashes, for some other reasons. Verified with Luigi's Mansion, it almost works.
BTW, this is Rice from emutalk, one of the 1964 emulator authors, and author of Rice video plugin for N64 emulators.

rice1964 718c88ff6a Some optimization on the pixel and vertex shader generators. As tested on Zelda TP, these changes should be able to reduce the number of lines in the compiled pixel shader program by 20% to 30%, for example, from 38 lines to 28 lines after the generated cg/HLSL pixel shader compiled by the cg/HLSL compiler. These could means slightly faster rasterization on slower video cards.
Also fixed shader compilation errors for DX9 plugin by using correct pixel/vertex attribute names that are compatibile with DX9 HLSL shader compiler. Now the generated vertex or pixel shader programs will compile correctly in either OGL or DX9. 

However, DX9 plugin is still not fixed, even though the shader programs can be compiled now.

hrydgard 6b97c0b764 DSPHLE: LordMark's looping hack for AFC. looping isn't correct but it's good enough for Pikmin 2 and Zelda TP's missing music. Does cause weird "echoes" in the harp sound in Zelda Four Swords, but I think that's a fair sacrifice until we figure it out properly.

Shawn Hoffman 6e61c32495 dspspy: fix a bug with ConsoleHelper
dspspy: remove some alignment for some vars. (should not have caused issues anyways)
dspCodeUtil: pad ucodes converted to headers to 32byte multiples with nops (this is only mimicing what is seen in nintendo ucodes, probably because their's are originating on disc)
Common.h: fix typo for gcc version of GC_ALIGNED32 (wtf? how did this work before?!)
createtest.pl: add "jmp end_of_test" to the end of generated ucodes.

XTra.KrazzY 286f17b7de Pikmin 2 for the Wii also boots, with corrupt sound this time. Included its UCode, since it's so different from Pikmin 1's and contains the mysterious UnkZelda address. Also, potential run-stop-run bug has been fixed.

Nolan Check 8027ab53d0 Don't use events for efb access. As I've learned, events cause kernel calls and it is sometimes more efficient to do spin-waits. See if this speeds up Wind Waker's pictobox quests.

XTra.KrazzY 3c9b5bbf7b Fixed the load-state memory leak, also fixed various other savestate issues. Found (probably) the cause of load-state crashing Dolphin: BPWrites. Tried to put a CriticalSection around BPWritten but it only causes Dolphin to hang when loading a state. Can someone find why it hangs?

hrydgard 3ad0db6830 GL: Delete code for GL_TEXTURE_RECTANGLE_ARB in case of non-pow2 textures - all modern GFX cards that can run Dolphin should support non-pow2 textures anyway. This removes some complexity and reduces the numbers of pixel shaders that need to be generated in some situations. Also fixes some texture mirroring problems. Let me know if this breaks things on ATI for some reason.

luigi2us 8cdae6fc1d Zelda uCode (SMS): fix a bug where we would receive more sync mails that expected.
Actually the sync mail sequences contain 3 mails, not 2.
That's what happens when you don't look at the uCode enough...

XTra.KrazzY 4da0457524 Zelda UCode: Solves 0x21 hang. In the worst case there's a bit of stuttering in the end of the sound, since it's probably supposed to fade out.
Remaining problem: 0x21 isn't resampled correctly, so when the framerate is ~200 FPS, the music runs as it would on ~60 FPS

luigi2us ddd09eda84 More correct and cleaner merge of Zelda (normal) and Luigi (light) uCodes.
Split HandleMail into two functions, one for each version.
Let's hope it won't break anything...

BTW: if you wonder what "DMA version" and "Light version" mean:
 - DMA version is, say, the uCode used by SMG
 - Light version is Luigi-styled uCode (named that way for obvious reasons)

hrydgard f6edc361b4 Delete the "Jac" uCode HLE, merge it into the Zelda ucode. The games (Luigi, Pikmin) communicate fine but don't make any sound :(
Improved volume mode 0. Initial work on more correct volume mode 1 emulation sounds, but it's not activated. Made the volumes less annoying, anyway.

Shawn Hoffman 2a236a4631 remove PAD_GetAttachedPads() from PadSimple and nJoy (and plugin specs). It hasn't done anything except get in the way/cause confusion since changing SI devices was added. Also I declare PadSimpleEvent and nJoy .4 as dead/rotting code. someone can feel free to prove me wrong...but know they are on my hitlist :p

Sonicadvance1 3ede866c37 Change the Wiimote plugin a bit since it works in both OSs the way Windows does it, fix a crash that happens in PluginManager.cpp since it was not being checked correctly. and the big one, Break out the JIT core dependency, should be able to remove easily now if added to the Scons settings. This commit WILL break Windows until someone adds the new files to the VS project files

Sonicadvance1 440c0c1d14 Trying to get Dolphin to compile in Xcode, had to rename the Debugger namespace to something else since the name collided in OS X when using Xcode/Cocoa. Everything compiles except for the GL plugin, and the actual main Dolphin program. Will be trying to get them to compile after sleeping

Shawn Hoffman 7076c36988 re-enable the ogl "debugger" (doesn't do much - and i don't have any plans for it - just wanted to dump shaders easily).

luigi2us c9cc3c355d Try to (re-)implement AFC sound. This is an adaptation of the code I commented out in the PCM16 commit.
For some reason AFC sound is slightly wrong. I don't know if it also happened before, but I'll work on it.

hrydgard cc38e72dc3 DSPLLE: Setting breakpoints and stepping through code now works in the (still rather basic) DSP debugger. Decided not to share the breakpoints code between PPC and DSP because it can be done much more efficiently for the DSP case due to the very limited memory space.

luigi2us 1aab3252fa Added support for playing PCM16 sounds, looping or non-looping.
It is a bit hacky and may have problems, but now SMG has music.
I'll try to do AFC / ADPCM for next commit.

PS: sorry. lots of stuff from latest commits will be reverted because, when updating, I got serious conflicts and everything was messed up :(

Nolan Check ade9479005 Display buffer flips are now triggered by the CPU thread through the Video_UpdateXFB function. This is a fairly significant change of behavior, but it improves performance.
Also, render target code is cleaned up. Post-processing shaders now work with multisampling and Real-XFB mode.

Sonicadvance1 1f590b8900 Fix a mess up on my part, causing a bunch of unknown events in Linux with the Wiimote. Dolphin sends out packets without the start 0x52 byte. WiiUse checks for this and adds it automatically. Wiimote is still having some problems, trying to figure it out

hrydgard aecaf271f1 New DSP debugger: step one. (not ready yet, but try loading zelda WW and look at the dsp debugger..).
Had to shuffle around quite a lot of code to be able to extract the CodeView into a library nicely so it can be used from both the main dolphin and the LLE plugin...  also extracted the symboldb code.

Nolan Check 4292962ea2 Changes for OpenGL plugin:
- Render targets should not have an alpha channel
- Use correct source rectangle for render-to-texture effects
- Use "GL_INTENSITY8" instead of just "GL_INTENSITY" (makes no difference)

The background of the "Stage Clear" screen in SSBM is now fixed!

John Peterson 5c04af50a4 Attempt to calculate actual refresh rate (i.e. a CPU-GPU synced Mhz), no real success. Anybody have any ideas?
Is there no indication from the game when the screen refresh should occur? No, not what I could find, we currently calculate the refresh rate and m_VBeamPos from the CPU ticks progress. That works perfectly if the CPU and GPU is perfectly synced as in the single core and no-idle skipping mode. So I guess it's possible that the game doesn't indicate when the screen should be refreshed, but rather that the hardware calculate that from the CPU ticks progress. That leaves us with a problem in the dual core and idle skipping modes to calculate a CPU-GPU synced CPU ticks progress.

luigi2us 36026c62ed This is the result of my investigations on the Zelda ucode, and more spceially
on these famous mails (00000000,000000000, 00000000,00010000, 00000000,00020000,
00000000,00030000) and command 0x2 (SyncFrame) too (these two things are tied
together).
Super Mario Galaxy now keeps sending commands 0x2 followed by the famous mails. 
Is it what it is supposed to do?

hrydgard 085fa5f526 Simple post-processing shader implementation. No UI yet. Does not work together with AA yet. To use shader bad_bloom, for example, set PostProcessingShader under [Enhancements] in gfx_opengl.ini.

hrydgard bb06a53e28 DSP LLE: Just some renaming and cleanup. Prepared for proper base address support in disassembly. Added a "DebugInterface" for the DSP which would allow us to hook up a CodeView .. although CoreView currently doesn't have any support for variable-length instructions.

2. Let render to main window also have the internal resolution setting
3. Set render to main window as default setting, it's the most common and best option used by the best emulators

death2droid c85510130b Clean up of the flicker fix.
(People don't seem to realise im not the original author of the hack)

Removed the code i left before just in case someone wanted to fix it.
As at the moment the hack works so it's fine for now plus glReadPixels is a bugger to work with(For me).

death2droid d6b86232e0 Add's a little hack to try and reduce flicking in some games.
Can also break some games or cause them to have flickering so I made it so it can be turned on and off :P
Original fix by orbb then modified by LuisR14 and me.

death2droid b6cfaf5653 Added features to hires loading and texture dumping so it now dumps the files into a specific folder like for Mario Party 7 the textures will be dumped into a folder named Mario Party 7.
For texture loading it now only checks the folder with the same name as the game.
Like same as before moddified texture of Mario Party 7 would go in the folder named Mario Party 7 :P

donkopunchstania 14a67bc8bc Changing where depth is read. Trying to use the same depth buffer GL uses when copying depth to a texture. This eliminates some quirky code and gets depth copies working in AA, but may not work on older graphics cards.
