treewide: convert GPLv2+ license info to SPDX tags
SPDX standardizes how source code conveys its copyright and licensing
information. See https://spdx.github.io/spdx-spec/1-rationale/ . SPDX
tags are adopted in many large projects, including things like the Linux
kernel.

due to a crash: https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/12561

I can't debug what the cause of the crash is due to not having an
Android TV device. Let's just revert this for now to fix the crash.

JosJuice 1b3f05628b Android: Remove check for missing game ID
Now that DOL and ELF files are assigned game IDs, all games have
game IDs. (Unless you intentionally craft an ISO file that has
the first bytes set to null, but if you do that I think you can
live with Dolphin creating a file in GameSettings called ".ini")

JosJuice d304d75aa5 Android: Stop using custom path for GameFileCache
Back when I wrote this code, I believe I set it to use a custom path
so that the cache would end up in a directory which Android considers
to be a cache directory. But nowadays the directory which Dolphin's
C++ code considers to be the cache directory is such a directory,
so there's no longer any reason to override the default path.

progressMessage was being used for the thread name was
a typo anyway – it's supposed to use progressTitle.

JosJuice 82e9c1c68a Android: Disable building unit tests by default
This reduces the build time for incremental builds from about
2 minutes to about 20 seconds. Most people never run the
unit tests on Android anyway (I'm not aware of anyone other
than me ever having done it).

JosJuice b7ba126db0 Android: Use JNI for getting post-processsing shaders
The Java implementation of getting the list of post-processing
shaders only looked in the Sys folder and not the User folder.
This could be fixed in the Java implementation, but it's
simpler to just call the C++ implementation instead.

JosJuice c2917417fe Android: Don't set android:debuggable="true"
In 5a1a642, I explicitly set android:debuggable="true" for Dolphin.
(By default, it's set for debug builds but not release builds.)
The reason I made the change is because debuggable must be set to
true in order to allow adb backup to be used with apps which target
Android 12. We have no reason to want to stop users from debugging
Dolphin and certainly no reason to stop users from using adb backup
(especially not after forced storage is going to force us to store
the User folder in app-specific external storage!), but,
it turns out that setting debuggable to true is forbidden by
Google Play "for security reasons". Go figure. The beta build
which was tagged earlier today was rejected because of this.

JosJuice a2c8050eba DolphinQt/Android: Unify the JIT naming scheme
I think the AArch64 JIT has come far enough that it doesn't have to
be called experimental anymore.

I'm also labeling the x86-64 JIT as x86-64 for consistence with the
AArch64 JIT. This will especially be helpful if we start supporting
AArch64 on macOS, as AArch64 macOS can run both the x86-64 JIT and
the AArch64 JIT depending on whether you enable Rosetta 2.

JosJuice 5a1a642495 Android: Early changes to adapt for Android 12
We don't actually need to do this until we bump targetSdkVersion
to Android 12 (which we can't do yet since we're not compatible
with scoped storage), but I figured I'd get it out of the way early.

Not tested on Android 12, but tested to not break stuff on Android 10.

JosJuice ed5e61a250 Android: Add "Synchronize GPU Thread" setting (SyncOnSkipIdle/SyncGPU)
Many Android users want to disable SyncOnSkipIdle as a performance
hack, to the point where it's often suggested as something to
paste into Dolphin.ini (if not to use a fork). If adding it as
a setting in the GUI gives us an opportunity to explain what the
setting actually does and stops people from pasting stuff they
don't understand into INI files, I think it can be worth adding
despite how it can make games unstable. It not being in the GUI
doesn't seem to be stopping people from disabling it anyway.

The added setting in the GUI is a three-way setting called
"Synchronize GPU Thread" with the following alternatives:

"Never":            SyncGPU = False, SyncOnIdleSkip = False
"On Idle Skipping": SyncGPU = False, SyncOnIdleSkip = True
"Always":           SyncGPU = True,  SyncOnIdleSkip = True

JosJuice 3a2fcf9fc6 Android: Expand the game INI deletion prompt
See PR 8203 for background on the game INI deletion prompt.

It's been almost two years since PR 8203 was merged, so you
would think that people are no longer creating game INIs that
contain a copy of every global setting, right? Unfortunately,
MMJ was forked not too long before that and never backported the
change, so right now there's a not insignificant number of people
online posting game INIs full of this garbage for others to use.

One thing that's been missing from the game INI deletion prompt
is a description of what the problem with having tons of extra
lines in a game INI actually is. This change adds that, in the
the hope that it will make people ignore the warning less often.

JosJuice e677f641a0 Android: Rename "Enable Logging" to "Write Logs to File"
This option does in fact not enable and disable logging as a whole.
You can get logs through logcat regardless of this setting.

Also taking the opportunity to remove the reference to
the "dolphin-emu" folder name since we will no longer be
using that folder once scoped storage is applied to Dolphin.

JosJuice ac65c7970c Android: Fix rescanning on first app launch after cache clear
GameFileCacheService.startRescan (in MainPresenter.onResume)
does nothing if called before GameFileCacheService.startLoad.
Fixes a 3f71c36 regression where already added games would not
show up after app launch under specific circumstances.

Unfortunately the loading indicator still doesn't show up
during a rescan initiated by app launch, but that would
be more annoying to fix, so I will leave it for now.

In master, the game scanning process looks like this:

1. Scan for games
2. Scan for additional metadata (icon.png and meta.xml)
3. Save the cache if needed
4. Update the game list with the results

This change makes the game scanning process look like this:

1. Scan for games
2. Update the game list with the results
3. Scan for additional metadata (icon.png and meta.xml)
4. Update the game list with the results
5. Save the cache if needed

Updating the game list as soon as possible means the user
has to wait less before their games show up. The new behavior
matches what DolphinWX did before it was removed. (DolphinQt
has an even fancier approach where games get added one by one.)

JosJuice 4752ec8074 Android: Use SwipeRefreshLayout in MainActivity
The main reason why I'm adding this isn't actually to allow
users to swipe down to refresh, it's to add a loading indicator.
Considering that the Storage Access Framework can be slow for
folders with many items (many subfolders?), not showing a
loading indicator might give users the impression that adding
a folder resulted in nothing happening even though Dolphin is
scanning for games in the background. But I suppose letting
users swipe down to refresh is a nice bonus with the change.

JosJuice 7cf62fed59 Android: Only have one settings entrypoint in game properties
In 8c723d0, I intended to update the main activity, emulation
activity and game properties dialog, but I forgot to actually
update the game properties dialog. This commit fixes that.

The changes outside of GamePropertiesDialog.java are just
to hide the Wii controller settings for GameCube games.

Basically, instead of having one button for config, one button
for graphics settings and so on, we now have just one settings
button which takes you to a screen where you pick between
config/graphics/GameCube controllers/Wii Remotes.

The main reason I want to do this is because people still have
trouble finding Overlay Controls in the "new" in-game menu.
Typically (depending on the screen size and the length of the
game name), the scrollable part of the menu can fit 4 items,
and merging Config and Graphics Settings into one item would
move Overlay Controls from 5th place to 4th place (assuming the
user doesn't have savestates enabled), which makes it findable
even for users who don't realize the menu can be scrolled.

The dialog that's shown when long pressing a game in the game
list is also shortened. While not a pressing matter, I think
it was getting a bit long.

An additional reason to do this is because we probably will
want to make it possible to edit the controller settings
from the in-game menu at some point in the future. With the
old approach, this would require us to dedicate a whopping 4
menu items just for settings (not including Overlay Controls),
which I think is excessive.

JosJuice e260f9815c Android: Move orientation setting to main settings screen
I moved it from the main settings screen to the in-game menu
in PR 8439 so that it could be changed while a game is running,
but now that the main settings can be accessed while a game is
running, there's no reason to not put it in the main settings.

This was removed in cc5802b when it should have
been converted to the new setting instead,
and it seems like I didn't notice when reviewing it.

I'm changing the DirectoryInitialization logic a little
so that clearWiimoteNewIniLinkedPreferences also is called
when there was no WiimoteNew.ini previously, in case the
user deleted WiimoteNew.ini but not Dolphin.ini.

We currently have one way of opening the menu on touch screen
devices (swiping down from the top of the screen to bring up the
action bar and selecting the menu in the action bar), and another
way of opening the menu on Android TV (pressing Back). However,
some devices that claim to support touch (or don't support
leanback? Dolphin currently conflates the two) don't actually let
you swipe down from the top of the screen in the way that Dolphin
expects, notably Chromebooks. There are also some phones where you
can swipe down from the top of the screen but this for some reason
doesn't lead to the action bar becoming visible, though we are
getting less reports about this nowadays than in the past.

This change makes us use the Back method on all devices,
since it should work on all devices with no significant drawbacks.

Unfortunately, we not only have two different ways of triggering
the menu but actually two entirely different menus, with the
non-touch menu not implementing options that only are revelant
when using a touch screen. A later commit will add the missing
features to the menu that we now use on all devices.

Since updating to 28 took us so long that Google Play started
requiring updates to target 28 before we actually merged the PR that
made us target 28, I'm trying to get the update to 29 done early.

Setting targetSdkVersion to 28 would normally force scoped storage
on us, which we do not support yet. However, we can easily
avoid this by setting android:requestLegacyExternalStorage="true".
There will be no such luxury with targetSdkVersion 30, however...

the touch controls issue which was fixed by d9c78d5 is still fixed.
The behavior for gamepads is reverted, bringing back the ability
to run diagonally in games that had trouble with it after d9c78d5.

JosJuice db75509ec5 Android: Enfore correct stick gate in overlay
Currently, the touch controller overlay uses a square gate for
sticks. This commit changes that so that it instead uses the
stick gate configured in the INI, which ensures that the values
sent to the core are appropriately scaled regardless of what
is configured in the INI and makes the overlay look nicer
if the INI is set to a stick gate that matches the graphics.

While having motion control emulation of IR enabled by default
makes sense in situations like using a DualShock 4 on a PC,
Android has the additional option of touch emulation of IR
which seems to be better liked, and the default value which
was chosen with PC in mind was carried over to Android
without any particular consideration. This change disables
motion control emulation of IR by default on Android only.

JosJuice 4fd42d994e Android TV: Fix crash when long pressing a game
Also fixes the same crash when accessing the game details
(which only can be accessed after long pressing a game).
The problem was that we were not using a theme that had
an AppCompat theme as a parent.

Unfortunately, the game details dialog uses white on white on
Android TV, and I don't know how to fix this in a clean way.

This changes channel syncing to happen when the operating system is
Android TV rather than when TvMainActivity is launched. (You can run
TvMainActivity on a phone by specifying a launch activity manually
in Android Studio, which I do sometimes for testing purposes. Without
this change, you get an exception when channel syncing runs.)

Stenzek 11ba623f26 Add an option to present/skip presenting duplicate frames
Currently, we do not display every second frame in 25fps/30fps games
which run to vsync. This improves performance as there's less rendering
for the GPU to perform, but when combined with vsync, could cause frame
pacing issues.

This commit adds an option to force every frame generated by the console
to be displayed to the host, which may improve pacing for these games.

JosJuice d9c78d54da Android: Use square stick calibration
Fixes https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/11911 and makes the range of
values when using touch controls correct. Also affects the range of
values for physical controllers in a way that may or may not be
desirable, depending on the controller model. (If there are
undesirable effects, they would be that the range of inputs is too
small, especially diagonally.) Such is our messy Android input system.
Should be an improvement on the whole for physical controllers, though.

JosJuice 4d838212e2 Android: Overhaul the orientation lock setting
When using motion controls, it's useful to be able to lock the screen
to a certain orientation so that Android won't interpret game motions
as an intent to change the screen orientation. To this end, I've
changed the existing orientation lock setting in the following ways:

- A portrait lock mode has been added in addition to the existing
  landscape lock mode and unlocked mode.
- The landscape lock mode now locks to regular landscape rather than
  letting you change between the two possible landscape orientations.
- The setting is now accessed during emulation rather than outside.

JosJuice c007dd1852 Android: Replace emulation rotation crash workaround with proper fix
The workaround was added in 0446a58.

The underlying problem is that we must not destroy the surface
while the video backend is initializing, otherwise the video
backend may reference nullptr.

I've also cleaned up the logic for when to destroy the surface.
Note that the comment in EmulationFragment.java about only being
able to destroy the surface when emulation is running is not true
anymore (due to de632fc, it seems like).

JosJuice 8842a0f402 Keep track of GameTDB ID separately from game ID
The difference between Dolphin's game IDs and GameTDB's game IDs
is that GameTDB uses four characters for non-disc titles, whereas
Dolphin uses six characters for all titles.

This fixes:

- TitleDatabase considering Datel discs to be NHL Hitz 2002
- Gecko code downloading not working for discs with IDs starting with P
- Cover downloading mixing up discs with channels (e.g. Mario Kart Wii

Some of the recent reviews on Google Play express trouble finding the
emulation activity menu. One of them thought you were supposed to go
to the settings accessible through the main activity to configure the
virtual controller buttons.

This commit changes the text so that the user now explicitly is told to
swipe down from the top of the screen to access the menu. In exchange,
I removed the exact selections to make in the menu so that the text
wouldn't get too long, but I think it shouldn't be too hard to
understand once you know how to open the menu.

vibrator(PS3, Xbox360, 2017 Shield controller), only the Xbox360 controller registered as having

Two reasons for this change. First, it appears that some android launchers do some sort of call into
the application when long pressing the app icon, which in turn calls the DirectoryInit service. This
was ok to do prior to Oreo but will cause crashes with the new restrictions on services running
in the background. Which leads to the second reason that DirectoryInit doesn't need to be a service
at all since these actions are required for dolphin to function and shouldn't be a scheduled action.
So we instead just kick this off in a new thread and send the broadcast when done.

Mike dd8d7bba98 Android: Get rid of the per-platform styles, as we only using the GC one.
I think the intention might have been to switch styles based on what
platform was selected, but that never happened. Instead, everything just
used the GC styles.

All the platform-specific styles did was add an accent color (which
tints the checkbox and text area elements). This adds a specific color for
that instead of abusing a platform color.

There should be no visual changes for this commit.

A little background: Android has 8 controller setup, 4 gamecube pads and 4 wiimote pads. When the static GCPadNew.ini and wiimotenew.ini is created, pads 0-3 are gc 1-4, and 4-7 are wii 1-4. Problem was the settings set wii controllers as pads 1-4, instead of 4-7. So any setting for wiimote1, was set for gc2(padID 1). Which is why the only wiimote to work was 4, since it mapped to padID 4, which is actually wiimote1.

Starting with PR #6123, when you press a control to map, Dolphin will

in the backup, this better be disabled because it will lead to unexpected
state. This will solve any issue that was keep hapenning even after fresh
install of the emulator until you manually clear the app data.

Stenzek 2f1a7cbee1 Implement "Skip" ubershader mode
Skip ubershader mode works the same as hybrid ubershaders in that the
shaders are compiled asynchronously. However, instead of using the
ubershader to draw the object, it skips it entirely until the
specialized shader is made available.

This mode will likely result in broken effects where a game creates an
EFB copy, and does not redraw it every frame. Therefore, it is not a
recommended option, however, it may result in better performance on
low-end systems.

1) Most of the times the native heap is kept around even after the activity
is killed, we can ask the native code if it is still running and resume
the emulation if that is the case.

2) In case the native heap is freed and the emulation can't resume we used
a temporary state to load on the game boot.

I couldn't find a way to test this, if you want to test this schnario,
add this block to EmulationFragment.

JosJuice d8f10ba177 Android: Always run HandleInit logic on app start
Note: By "HandleInit" in this commit message, I mean the code that is
in HandleInit in master except the part that launches EmulationActivity.
In other words, I mean the call to SetUserDirectory and the call to
DirectoryInitializationService.startService. Couldn't think of
something more accurate to call that than "HandleInit"...

In master, HandleInit only runs when the main activity is launched.
This is a problem if the app ends up being launched in some other way,
such as resuming EmulationActivity after the app has been killed in
order to reclaim memory. It's important that we run HandleInit, because
otherwise the native code won't know where the User and Sys folders are.

In order to implement this, I'm dropping the ability to set a custom
User folder in an intent. I don't think anyone is using that anyway.
It's not impossible to support it, but I can't see a way to support
it that doesn't involve something ugly like having code for calling
HandleInit in every activity (or at least MainActivity + TvMainActivity
+ EmulationActivity, with more activities potentially needing it in
the future if we expand the usage of native code for e.g. settings).
If we want to support setting a custom user directory, we should
consider another way to do it, such as a setting that's stored in
getFilesDir() or getExternalStorageDirectory(). Intents are intended
to control the behavior of a specific activity, not the whole app.

mahdihijazi 58ee9d2a78 Fix a bug when you open the gc pad settings after fresh install of Dolphin
You will see an empty gc pad settings screen until you open any other
settings screen and change something, at that moment the Dolphin.ini will
be created and the gc pad settings will be loaded successfully the next
time you open the screen.

This fixes the bug by putting the default gc pad settings section even if
the Dolphin.ini file doesn't exist

mahdihijazi 1190afef51 [Android] Refactor AssetCopyService and the way we extract resources from the assets
This solves the following issues:
1. If user uninstall Dolphin and install it again the resources will
not be copied unless the user manually clear the app cache because we
are enabling the allowBackup flag in the manifest which will make the app
restore the settings saved in the shared prefernces including the flag
assetsCopied. This PR always copy the files everytime you open Dolphin.

2. If the AssetCopyService took long time and you tried to open the settings
screen or start a game the behaviour was not expected or the emulator will
crash, this PR make sure that whatever we add to the DirectoryInitializationService
or how long it will take will still work as expected by blocking both
the settings screen and the emulaion screen to wait untill all resources
needed are copied.

3. Better communication between the DirectoryInitializationService and the
UI screens using brocast messages.

Mike 1f81e13d81 Android: Ignore joystick axis movements in the flat area.
Now that all inputs are corrected to zero-centered, we can use getFlat()
to ignore movements that are just noise.

This eliminates a lot of drift when the controller is at rest, notably
on the character select screen in Melee.

Mike 6787fcb712 Android: Handle duplicate axis, and fix known bad axis.
Android reports the same physical axis multiple times for analog
triggers, and this handles this case.

There are also some controllers with broken mappings (eg the analog
triggers on a PS4 DualShock 4). These axis don't center correctly.

There are also some controllers (again, the PS4) that send both a button
press and an axis movement. This ignores the buttons so we can use the
analog axis. Otherwise, since the button comes before the axis moves
far we would always take the button.

Mike Harris fb6274f7bc Android: Refactor onMotionEvent.
This works the same, but only looks for the initial event and ignores
the keyup / return to home. It handles joystick diagonals smarter, in
that it ignore diagonals until the stick moves in a more cardinal
direction.

This fixes an odd bug where the dpad up/down were switched (thread post

Move the parameter extraction earlier on in onCreate. Mostly this moves

EmulationFragment will always see it in a consistent state. Previously,
there was a race, which mean the controller overlay would randomly be
Wii controls for a GameCube game (since the default is false).

Use the correct support version of things, ActivityOptionsCompat and
transitions

Rename static var mIsGameCubeGame to sIsGameCubeGame. s is static, m is

Mike Harris 4cab718065 Move emulation lifecycle handling into EmulationFragment.
The Activity is responsible for just its views and menus and such. It
signals the Fragment via setGamePath, StartEmulation and StopEmulation.

The Fragment manages the actual emulation lifecycle. It is solely
responsible for calling the NativeLibrary lifecycle methods.

With this lifecycle simplification, the NativeLibrary no longer needs to
kill the Activity. It happens normally now.

This simplifies a lot of things, live handling rotation.

Mike Harris 9fb0d9a664 Move all Activities and Fragments to the support library versions.
In the support lib, the code comes from the SDK, not the device like the
framework version. This means we're shipping a more recent and less buggy
version.

It's also a good idea to keep the entire project on one version. We have a bit
of a mix now. I think some of the Fragment animation issues were because of
this mixing.

For the leanback activities, AppCompatActivity requires AppCompat themes, which
they don't ship for Theme.Leanback. So use FragmentActivity instead (that's the
parent of AppCompatActivity, but still in the support library). For passed
around Activities, use FragmentActivity to work with both.

Other than what action they send back to
EmulationActivity.handleMenuAction(), they are the same.

Change the menu-handling logic in EmulationActivity to keep track of a
boolean for whether the submenu is visible, rather than keeping the
fragment tag. There's only one fragment visible, so this makes more
sense.

Mike Harris 7db88e831e Remove prefix of tag, args and keys with packagename.
Prefixing everything with a constant packagename is not needed for
internal keys, and just adds complexity.

Rename ARGUMENT_ prefix to ARG_ to match (most) of the rest of the
codebase.

Mike Harris 96525cbaaa Remove unused FRAGMENT_TAG, and move the fragment's layout ID inline.
FRAGMENT_ID wasn't actually the fragment's ID (that's misleading, and
sounds like the tag). It's actually the layout resource ID. There's no point in making that a static constant.

Jonathan Hamilton 221462808d Avoid crashes due to null SettingsSections
If a SettingsFile had at least one section, it was assumed all sections
were correctly filled out. This caused crashes when opening the settings
menus if that was not the case - for example the GFX.ini settings empty
sections are removed by the main dolphin app, putting the .ini file in a
state that would crash the settings window if at least one setting was
changed in it from the default, some sections were left as default.

This adds a subclass of HashMap<String, SettingSection> that constructs a
new SettingSection instead of returning 'null' if the key isn't found,
so the mSettings.get(FILE).get(SECTION).get(SETTING) pattern can be
safely used.

JosJuice 0146456af0 Don't translate button names
Since these button names are printed on all real controllers,
we should show them in the same way as they are printed on
the controllers, regardless of the user's language. It seems
like this was intended all along (except for "Start"), but the
_ markers in TASInputDlg.cpp (accidentally?) led to the button
names in the controller configs also becoming translatable.

I'm making exceptions for "L" and "R" because translators
may want to mark them in some way (for instance "L-Digital")
to clarify the difference from "L-Analog" and "R-Analog".

I'm also making an exception for START/PAUSE because it's
referred to as スタート in Japanese games.

I'm changing "Home" and "Start" to uppercase for consistency
with how Nintendo refers to those buttons, and because someone
who isn't familiar with the Latin script might not know the
connection between the lowercase and uppercase letters (most
users likely do know the connection, but we shouldn't assume it),
and because leaving "Start" as "Start" makes it "collide" with
unrelated strings, such as the string for the button that starts
a netplay session.

To rename "Start" and "Home" without breaking INI
compatibility, I added a ui_name variable like in f5c82ad.

Whenever the EmulationActivity crashes and the app gets back to the
TvMainActivity, dolphin will crash tring to restor the mBrowseFragment
since we don't save the adapter data in the bundle.

This is quick hack to avoid the crash. The proper fix would be to save the
adapter data in the bundle and restore it before restoring the fragment
when the activity gets recreated.

Mahdi Hijazi d19f9038da Fix menu actions on Android TV
Saving screenshot was not working due to 2 problems. The first one is that
the view id of the save screenshot in the Android TV fragment doesnt match
the one declared inside the menu_emulation. Second Problem will be fixed
in another commit.

This commit chnage the code to not depend on reusing the ids of the menu
everywhere in the emulator inorder for the onMenuItemClicked to work.
Instead you need to call EmulationActivity.handleMenuAction passing
the action to handle regardless of the ids you are using in the view.

Florent Castelli fa04c1479e cmake: Remove PCH support
Compilers are very picky and don't use PCH when they have been compiled
with different flags. I even got some ICE in MSVC, so removing them for now.

Pringo 4bd5674b85 Change "Wiimote" to "Wii Remote" in Interface
The usage of "Wii Remote" and "Wiimote" in the interface is inconsistent. "Wiimote" is also not a real word nor is it an official product name. Therefore I have changed instances of "Wiimote" in the UI to instead say "Wii Remote". I also made a couple of minor grammatical changes as well.

This is mostly a resubmission of #4338 but there are some minor other changes as well.
