Games that have higher frequency sounds and music should sound a bit better using 48k.
I don't have any games that use DTKMusic so that upsampling code untested. If you get strange sounds only at 48k try toggling dtk music to see if that isolates the problem and let me know.

Windows audio backend with lower latency.
Audio never glitches on my machine but the number of buffers may be set too aggressively. If you run into problems try turning up NUM_BUFFERS in the h file and leave some feedback.
From my tests games seem to prefer filling the buffer with smaller chunks. For this to work the callback that fills the buffer needs to either spin or run async so I went with async.

Ideally we should be more character set aware, but at the moment we
use anonymous 7/8-bit strings in too many places.
Fix use of AddGrowable{Col,Row}. Any (non-zero) rows/columns must
have been created first by adding an item to it.

This now enables/disables the slider, depending on chosen Backend. Linux and OSX can now also use the slider to change the Volume of OpenAL. Other Backends do not support Volume changes.

Bit of cleanup/grouping, control creation is now a bit more separate from value setting and tooltip assignment which IMO cluttered the code as it was.
Removed something from main.cpp that looked like a hack to me.
Fixes Issue 2229

No need to use "Sound Loop Hack", so I just removed it.
2. Fixed the WAD game loading issue. What can I say, I have to go though and patch all the WII_IPC_HLE devices to take care of this.
3. Applied tomman's Linux keyboard patch, but I can't test here, no suitable environment.
4. Disabled configuration dialogs when game is running, you have to pause game first to be able to change any configuration. (Which prevents some accidental crash to happen.)
5. Other trivial fixes, no need to mention.

I know hack is not good but before we find a better way to detect different games, at least this option allows some games to output normal sound without breaking other games.
Besides, this commit will hopefully fix the "Unknown device: /dev/usb/hid" issue, but not sure as I have no game to test on this issue.

Tho at the moment there is a bug with changing it in the GUI when ever you change it it automatically resets to nothing.

It allows run time selection of backends (AOSound, DSound and NullSound).
It replaces the DSP_NULL plugin (works even better!)
It also includes improved thread handling on asound, and using some common functions on both
asound and windows.
