The "chardev" property initialization might have failed (for example because
there are not enough chardevs provided by QEMU).
The serial device emulator needs to be able to work with an uninitialized
(NULL) chardev device pointer.
This patch adds some missing tests on the chr pointer value before
using it.

After commit 767adce2d, they are redundant. This way we don't assign them
except when needed. Once there, there were lots of cases where the ".fields"
indentation was wrong:
.fields = (VMStateField []) {
and
.fields = (VMStateField []) {
Change all the combinations to:
.fields = (VMStateField[]){
The biggest problem (apart from aesthetics) was that checkpatch complained
when we copy&pasted the code from one place to another.
