Have sd_normal_command() / sd_app_command() use these arrays:

in which state it is. Add this information, as it is useful when
debugging problems.

CMD19 (SEND_TUNING_BLOCK) and CMD23 (SET_BLOCK_COUNT) were

In SPI-mode, SD card's OCR register: Card Capacity Status (CCS) bit
is not set to 1 correclty when the assigned SD image size is larger
than 2GB (SDHC). This will cause the SD card to be indentified as SDSC
incorrectly. CCS bit should be set to 1 if we are using SDHC.
Also, as there's no power up emulation in SPI-mode.
The OCR register: Card power up status bit bit (busy) should also
be set to 1 when reset. (busy bit is set to LOW if the card has not
finished the power up routine.)

'wp_groups' holds a bitmap, rename it as 'wp_group_bmap'.
'wpgrps_size' is the bitmap size (in bits), rename it as

It is legal for the CMD30 to query for out-of-range addresses.
Such invalid addresses are simply ignored in the response (write
protection bits set to 0).
In commit 84816fb63e ("hw/sd/sdcard: Assert if accessing an illegal
group") we misplaced the assertion *before* we test the address is
in range. Move it *after*.

Per the 'Physical Layer Simplified Specification Version 3.01',
Table 4-22: 'Block Oriented Write Protection Commands'
SEND_WRITE_PROT (CMD30)
If the card provides write protection features, this command asks
the card to send the status of the write protection bits [1].
[1] 32 write protection bits (representing 32 write protect groups
starting at the specified address) [...]
The last (least significant) bit of the protection bits corresponds
to the first addressed group. If the addresses of the last groups
are outside the valid range, then the corresponding write protection
bits shall be set to 0.
Split the if() statement (without changing the behaviour of the code)
to better position the description comment.

For high capacity memory cards, the erase start address and end
address are multiplied by 512, but the address check is still

Currently, blk_is_read_only() tells whether a given BlockBackend can
only be used in read-only mode because its root node is read-only. Some
callers actually try to answer a slightly different question: Is the
BlockBackend configured to be writable, by taking write permissions on
the root node?
This can differ, for example, for CD-ROM devices which don't take write
permissions, but may be backed by a writable image file. scsi-cd allows
write requests to the drive if blk_is_read_only() returns false.
However, the write request will immediately run into an assertion
failure because the write permission is missing.
This patch introduces separate functions for both questions.
blk_supports_write_perm() answers the question whether the block
node/image file can support writable devices, whereas blk_is_writable()
tells whether the BlockBackend is currently configured to be writable.
All calls of blk_is_read_only() are converted to one of the two new
functions.

commit f6fb1f9b31 ("sdcard: Correct CRC16 offset in sd_function_switch()")
changed the 16-bit CRC to be stored at offset 64. In fact, this CRC
calculation is completely wrong. From the original codes, it wants
to calculate the CRC16 of the first 64 bytes of sd->data[], however
passing 64 as the `width` to sd_crc16() actually counts 256 bytes
starting from the `message` for the CRC16 calculation, which is not
what we want.
Besides that, it seems existing sd_crc16() algorithm does not match
the SD spec, which says CRC16 is the CCITT one but the calculation
does not produce expected result. It turns out the CRC16 was never
transferred outside the sd core, as in sd_read_byte() we see:
if (sd->data_offset >= 64)
sd->state = sd_transfer_state;
Given above reasons, let's drop it.

After the card is put into SPI mode, CRC check for all commands
including CMD0 will be done according to CMD59 setting. But this
command is currently unimplemented. Simply allow the decoding of
CMD59, but the CRC remains unchecked.

Per the SD spec, to indicate a 2 GiB card, BLOCK_LEN shall be 1024
bytes, hence the READ_BL_LEN field in the CSD register shall be 10
instead of 9.
This fixes the acceptance test error for the NetBSD 9.0 test of the
Orange Pi PC that has an expanded SD card image of 2 GiB size.

The function selection fields (399:376) should be zeroed out to
prevent leftover from being or'ed into the switch function status
data structure.

While the Spec v3 is not very clear, v6 states:
If the host provides an out of range address as an argument
to CMD32 or CMD33, the card shall indicate OUT_OF_RANGE error
in R1 (ERX) for CMD38.
If an address is out of range, do not attempt to erase it:
return R1 with the error bit set.

From the Spec "4.3.5 Erase":
The host should adhere to the following command
sequence: ERASE_WR_BLK_START, ERASE_WR_BLK_END and
ERASE (CMD38).
If an erase (CMD38) or address setting (CMD32, 33)
command is received out of sequence, the card shall
set the ERASE_SEQ_ERROR bit in the status register
and reset the whole sequence.
Reset both addresses if the ERASE command occured
out of sequence (one of the start/end address is
not set).

As it is legal to WRITE/ERASE the address/block 0,
change the value of this definition to an illegal
address: UINT32_MAX.
Unfortunately this break the migration stream, so
bump the VMState version number. This affects some
ARM boards and the SDHCI_PCI device (which is only
used for testing).

qemu_hexdump()'s pointer to the buffer and length of the
buffer are closely related arguments but are widely separated
in the argument list order (also, the format of <stdio.h>
function prototypes is usually to have the FILE* argument
coming first).
Reorder the arguments as "fp, prefix, buf, size" which is
more logical.

At present the function switch status data structure bit [399:376]
are wrongly pupulated. These 3 bytes encode function switch status
for the 6 function groups, with 4 bits per group, starting from
function group 6 at bit 399, then followed by function group 5 at
bit 395, and so on.
However the codes mistakenly fills in the function group 1 status
at bit 399. This fixes the code logic.

QEMU allows to create SD card with unrealistic sizes. This could
work, but some guests (at least Linux) consider sizes that are not
a power of 2 as a firmware bug and fix the card size to the next
power of 2.
While the possibility to use small SD card images has been seen as
a feature, it became a bug with CVE-2020-13253, where the guest is
able to do OOB read/write accesses past the image size end.
In a pair of commits we will fix CVE-2020-13253 as:
Read command is rejected if BLOCK_LEN_ERROR or ADDRESS_ERROR
occurred and no data transfer is performed.
Write command is rejected if BLOCK_LEN_ERROR or ADDRESS_ERROR
occurred and no data transfer is performed.
WP_VIOLATION errors are not modified: the error bit is set, we
stay in receive-data state, wait for a stop command. All further
data transfer is ignored. See the check on sd->card_status at the
beginning of sd_read_data() and sd_write_data().
While this is the correct behavior, in case QEMU create smaller SD
cards, guests still try to access past the image size end, and QEMU
considers this is an invalid address, thus "all further data transfer
is ignored". This is wrong and make the guest looping until
eventually timeouts.
Fix by not allowing invalid SD card sizes (suggesting the expected
size as a hint):
$ qemu-system-arm -M orangepi-pc -drive file=rootfs.ext2,if=sd,format=raw
qemu-system-arm: Invalid SD card size: 60 MiB
SD card size has to be a power of 2, e.g. 64 MiB.
You can resize disk images with 'qemu-img resize <imagefile> <new-size>'
(note that this will lose data if you make the image smaller than it currently is).

qdev_prop_set_drive() can fail. None of the other qdev_prop_set_FOO()
can; they abort on error.
To clean up this inconsistency, rename qdev_prop_set_drive() to
qdev_prop_set_drive_err(), and create a qdev_prop_set_drive() that
aborts on error.

Commit 260bc9d8aa "hw/sd/sd.c: QOMify" QOMified only the device
itself, not its users. It kept sd_init() around for non-QOMified
users.
More than four years later, three such users remain: omap1 (machines
cheetah, sx1, sx1-v1) and omap2 (machines n800, n810) are not
QOMified, and pl181 (machines integratorcp, realview-eb,
realview-eb-mpcore, realview-pb-a8 realview-pbx-a9, versatileab,
versatilepb, vexpress-a15, vexpress-a9) is not QOMified properly.
The issue I presently have with this: an "sd-card" device should plug
into an "sd-bus" (its DeviceClass member bus_type says so), but
sd_init() leaves it unplugged. This is normally a bug (I just fixed
some instances), and I'd like to assert proper pluggedness to prevent
regressions. However, the qdev-but-not-quite thing returned by
sd_init() would fail the assertion. Meh.
Make sd_init() hide it from QOM/qdev. Visible in "info qom-tree",
here's the change for cheetah:

In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/qdev-properties.h triggers
a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and
objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).
Many places including hw/qdev-properties.h (directly or via hw/qdev.h)
actually need only hw/qdev-core.h. Include hw/qdev-core.h there
instead.
hw/qdev.h is actually pointless: all it does is include hw/qdev-core.h
and hw/qdev-properties.h, which in turn includes hw/qdev-core.h.
Replace the remaining uses of hw/qdev.h by hw/qdev-properties.h.
While there, delete a few superfluous inclusions of hw/qdev-core.h.
Touching hw/qdev-properties.h now recompiles some 1200 objects.

of some 2600 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that
don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).
The previous commits have left only the declaration of hw_error() in
hw/hw.h. This permits dropping most of its inclusions. Touching it
now recompiles less than 200 objects.

objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h).
hw/hw.h supposedly includes it for convenience. Several other headers
include it just to get VMStateDescription. The previous commit made
that unnecessary.
Include migration/vmstate.h only where it's still needed. Touching it
now recompiles only some 1600 objects.

hw/hw.h supposedly includes it for convenience. Several other headers
include it just to get qemu_irq and.or qemu_irq_handler.
Move the qemu_irq and qemu_irq_handler typedefs from hw/irq.h to
qemu/typedefs.h, and then include hw/irq.h only where it's still
needed. Touching it now recompiles only some 500 objects.

CMD8 is "Reserved" in Spec v1.10.
Spec v2.00 introduces the SEND_IF_COND command:
6.4.1 Power Up
CMD8 is newly added in the Physical Layer Specification Version
2.00 to support multiple voltage ranges and used to check whether
the card supports supplied voltage. The version 2.00 or later host
shall issue CMD8 and verify voltage before card initialization.
The host that does not support CMD8 shall supply high voltage range.

The initial implementation is based on the Specs v1.10 (see a1bb27b1e9).
However the SCR is anouncing the card being v1.01.
The new chapters added in version 1.10 are:
4.3.10 Switch function command
Switch function command (CMD6) 1 is used to switch or expand
memory card functions. [...]
This is a new feature, introduced in SD physical Layer
Specification Version 1.10. Therefore, cards that are
compatible with earlier versions of the spec do not support
it. The host shall check the "SD_SPEC" field in the SCR
register to recognize what version of the spec the card
complies with before using CMD6. It is mandatory for SD
memory card of Ver1.10 to support CMD6.
4.3.11 High-Speed mode (25MB/sec interface speed)
Though the Rev 1.01 SD memory card supports up to 12.5MB/sec
interface speed, the speed of 25MB/sec is necessary to support
increasing performance needs of the host and because of memory
size which continues to grow.
To achieve 25MB/sec interface speed, clock rate is increased to
50MHz and CLK/CMD/DAT signal timing and circuit conditions are
reconsidered and changed from Physical Layer Specification
Version 1.01.
4.3.12 Command system (This chapter is newly added in version 1.10)
SD commands CMD34-37, CMD50, CMD57 are reserved for SD command
system expansion via the switch command.
[These commands] will be considered as illegal commands (as
defined in revision 1.01 of the SD physical layer specification).
The SWITCH_FUNCTION is implemented since the first commit, a1bb27b1e9.
The 25MB/sec High-Speed mode was already updated in d7ecb86752.
The current implementation does not implements CMD34-37, CMD50 and
CMD57, thus these commands already return ILLEGAL.
With this patch, the SCR register now matches the description of the header:
* SD Memory Card emulation as defined in the "SD Memory Card Physical
* layer specification, Version 1.10."

Per the Physical Layer Simplified Spec. "4.3.10.4 Switch Function Status":
The block length is predefined to 512 bits
and "4.10.2 SD Status":
The SD Status contains status bits that are related to the SD Memory Card
proprietary features and may be used for future application-specific usage.
The size of the SD Status is one data block of 512 bit. The content of this
register is transmitted to the Host over the DAT bus along with a 16-bit CRC.
Thus the 16-bit CRC goes at offset 64.

The current code checks if the next block exceeds the size of the card.
This generates an error while reading the last block of the card.
Do the out-of-bounds check when starting to read a new block to fix this.
This issue became visible with increased error checking in Linux 4.13.

Some devices allow a media change between read-only and read-write
media. They need to adapt the permissions in their .change_media_cb()
implementation, which can fail. So add an Error parameter to the

Sector-based blk_write() should die; switch to byte-based
blk_pwrite() instead. Likewise for blk_read().
Greatly simplifies the code, now that we let the block layer
take care of alignment and read-modify-write on our behalf :)
In fact, we no longer need to include 'buf' in the migration
stream (although we do have to ensure that the stream remains
compatible).

Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.
Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.
Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.
This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

The SD card object is not a SysBusDevice, so don't create it with
qdev_create() if we're not assigning it to a specific bus; use
object_new() instead.
This was causing 'info qtree' to segfault on boards with SD cards,
because qdev_create(NULL, TYPE_FOO) puts the created object on the
system bus, and then we may try to run functions like sysbus_dev_print()
on it, which fail when casting the object to SysBusDevice.
(This is the same mistake that we made with the NAND device
and fixed in commit 6749695eaaf346c1.)

The sd.c SD card emulation code can be in a state where the
SDState BlockBackend pointer is NULL; this is treated as
"card not present". Add a missing check to sd_get_inserted()
so that we don't segfault in this situation.
(This could be provoked by the guest writing to the SDHCI
register to do a reset on a xilinx-zynq-a9 board; it will
also happen at startup when sdhci implements its DeviceClass
reset method.)

Some of these errors may be harmless (e.g. probing unimplemented
commands, or issuing CMD12 in the wrong state), and may also be quite
frequent. Spamming the standard error output isn't desirable in such
cases.

The SD spec for ACMD41 says that a zero argument is an "inquiry"
ACMD41, which does not start initialisation and is used only for
retrieving the OCR. However, Tianocore EDK2 (UEFI) has a bug [1]: it
first sends an inquiry (zero) ACMD41. If that first request returns an
OCR value with the power up bit (0x80000000) set, it assumes the card
is ready and continues, leaving the card in the wrong state. (My
assumption is that this works on hardware, because no real card is
immediately powered up upon reset.)
This change models a delay of 0.5ms from the first ACMD41 to the power
being up. However, it also immediately sets the power on upon seeing a
non-zero (non-enquiry) ACMD41. This speeds up UEFI boot, it should
also account for guests that simply delay after card reset and then
issue an ACMD41 that they expect will succeed.

Add a QOM bus for SD cards to plug in to.
Note that since sd_enable() is used only by one board and there
only as part of a broken implementation, we do not provide it in
the SDBus API (but instead add a warning comment about the old
function). Whoever converts OMAP and the nseries boards to QOM
will need to either implement the card switch properly or move
the enable hack into the OMAP MMC controller model.
In the SDBus API, the old-style use of sd_set_cb to register some
qemu_irqs for notification of card insertion and write-protect
toggling is replaced with methods in the SDBusClass which the
card calls on status changes and methods in the SDClass which
the controller can call to find out the current status. The
query methods will allow us to remove the abuse of the 'register
irqs' API by controllers in their reset methods to trigger
the card to tell them about the current status again.

While processing standard SD commands, the 'req.cmd' value could
lead to OOB read when used as an index into 'sd_cmd_type' or
'sd_cmd_class' arrays. Limit 'req.cmd' value to avoid such an
access.
